People Productions is encouraging aspiring artists to create a one minute video for the chance to have it viewed at the weekly Boulder Outdoor Cinema pre-show. At the end of the summer, three videos will be chosen for various cool and handy prizes. Submit your entry here.
Electronics Recycling Day: Saturday
On June 20 starting at 9 a.m. (till noon or full) businesses within the Downtown Boulder Business Improvement District (BID) can recycle their computers for free (5 max). You must provide proof that your business is in the BID (e.g. business card, rental receipt, property tax statement.) 2009 Celebrity Commuter Challenge
Monday, June 22 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Go Boulder and The City of Boulder will host the 2009 Celebrity Commuter Challenge, in which local celebrities will race by bus, bike and car to highlight Boulder's great alternative transportation. Bike to Work Day in Downtown Boulder!
Strap on your helmet! June 24 is Bike to Work Day! Commuters across the nation will be peddling themselves to work, will you be joining them? We hope so! And just to get you motivated, over 40 Boulder businesses will be serving complementary breakfast to walkers and bikers. Cycle by the multi-business sponsored Breakfast Stop at 1035 Pearl Street. This stop will be hosted by Dovetail Lending, Bobbi Ciani Salon, Izze, Susan Minnicello, Indigo Landscape Design and more! Click here for a list of all participating businesses.
Later in the evening, bike on down to Boulder Theater for the 3rd Annual Bike Shorts Film Festival. The festival begins at 7 p.m. and celebrates the potential, fun and freedom of the bicycle. This year's films include a thrilling ride by a local mountain biker, a fixed gear race across death-valley, the art of building a bike frame, the story of citizen's reclaiming their waterfront with a bike path and more.
