Ignite Boulder 5
Ignite Boulder 5 (happening this Thursday, 6 p.m. at the Boulder Theater) is a night of presentations on a variety of topics, with a twist. Each presentation has 20 slides that automatically advance after 15 seconds. The Autumn Film and Fellow Citizens perform following the presentations. Plus, one lucky attendee will walk away with Adobe Creative Suite 4 and an iPhone. The event is 21+. Tickets are $5 and going fast. More.



Volunteer Needed: Tebo Train
Become the engineer of the Tebo Children's Train. Volunteer needed Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. until Noon. The four-car train runs from the 1200 block down the Pearl Street Mall to the 1400 block and is a favorite attraction and experience for kids of all ages. Breast Prayers for Peace at BMoCA
Take a break and take it off! After an inspiring talk on the feminine body with artist Sally King at BMoCA, let the girls out for some air and make your own breast prayer flag by printing your breasts on a piece of muslin cloth (privacy ensured). Like a traditional Tibetan prayer flag, the printed cloths will be added to an existing prayer flag that keeps growing as more participate. LocalFest: Creating Sustainable Community

On Saturday, July 11, the Boulder Independent Business Alliance (BIBA) celebrates local community with LocalFest, A Public Forum and Business Expo. LocalFest takes place in front of the County Courthouse on the bricks of Pearl Street mall (1300 Pearl Street). Exhibits open at 10 a.m. and the public forum begins at noon, featuring five panel discussions until 5 p.m. on community sustainability. More.

Park FREE at all city meters and garages in Downtown Boulder this Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 3-5. Happy 4th of July!

 

Other parking news: The garage located at 14th and Walnut (RTD) will be closed beginning Monday, July 6 with a scheduled reopening of Monday, July 12. Permit holders are asked once again to park at 15th and Pearl. More.

Organized by the Boulder 150 Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee, the Stroll is a daylong series of celebratory events happening all day Saturday:

11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Welcome Ceremony presented by the Chautauqua Association.
12:15-1:30 p.m. Colorado Music Festival Brass Band performs & barbecue
1:30-4:30 p.m. Stroll to these sites:
Columbia Cemetery, "Stroll with the Spirits";
Boulder History Museum, "Only in Boulder" exhibit; CU Heritage Center presents "Boulder and CU Through the Years.";
2-5:30 p.m. Bluegrass Concert at Central Park Band Shell featuring Boulder Acoustic Society and Blue Canyon Boys
