What does it mean to be 'spiritual but not religious?' Are they simply "dabblers" or "salad-bar spiritualists"? Contrary to these stereotypes, Dr. Linda Mercadante has found this rising group of people to be determined seekers and spiritually open. She has done in-depth interviews with more than 70 people who so self-identify, focusing attention on comparing Boulder, CO and Columbus, OH, but she has also done interviews in California, New York, Michigan, and Canada. She will share her 3 years of research on SBNR spiritual journeys, practices and especially their beliefs. Dr. Mercadante has won two awards for this work and is currently the Henry Luce III Fellow in Theology. Although she is the B. Robert Straker Professor of Theology at The Methodist Theological School in Ohio, she is here in Boulder conducting additional research, and writing a book on this topic. Come and learn about the background of this movement, and the fascinating people that inhabit it. Please visit www.healthybeliefs.org for more information on Linda.
