Directed by Stanley Nelson (2006). On November 18, 1978, more than 900 people died in the largest mass murder/suicide in American history. One of Newsweek’s top movies of 2006, and on the short list for last year’s documentary Oscar, this nightmarish film, featuring never-before-seen footage and narration by survivors, shows how apparently intelligent, idealistic, life-loving people follow a demented, sadistic monster into on-camera mass suicide.
