FAT PIG [Live Theater] @ The Diary

A character in FAT PIG says, "we're all one step away from being what frightens us. What we despise. And so, we despise it when we see it anyone else." Bud Coleman, Chair of the Theatre and Dance Department at CU-Boulder, will moderate a panel about social perception and discrimination. The one-hour panel discussion will be followed by a brief reception until curtain time at 7:30 pm.

What happens when a young, handsome executive falls in love with a "plus-sized" woman? Will their relationship be able to endure the societal pressures that surround them? Can they overcome their own fears and limitations in the name of true love?

In his usual multi-faceted style, Labute uses this sharply drawn play not only to critique our slavish adherence to Hollywood ideals of beauty, but also to boldly question our ability to change what we dislike within ourselves.Sometimes offensive, often hilarious, and ultimately touching, Fat Pig promises to be one of the most exciting theatrical events of the season.
