From Virginia Patterson to Kidrobot’s Stache Labbit, DBI celebrates the best of Downtown Boulder


[Boulder, CO] February 1, 2013 – On Tuesday, February 5, 2013, Downtown Boulder’s annual luncheon at the St Julien Hotel & Spa will recognize individuals and businesses in the downtown Boulder community who help make the district a premiere shopping, dining and entertainment destination. Business of the Year will be presented to Newton Running for their efforts in enhancing Boulder's global reputation as a running mecca by establishing their corporate headquarters downtown and hosting their annual retailer event last summer at the St Julien which further boosted Boulder's prestige in the running world, as well as contributed to the local economy.

Kidrobot will be presented the Rising Star Award for helping enhance the downtown retail landscape by opening their store gallery on the Pearl Street Mall just under their corporate headquarters last July. Property Owners of the Year will go to David and Julie Welker who own the buildings currently occupied by West Flanders Brewing Company & Full Cycle. Ellen Cunningham, Special Events Manager with the Downtown University Hill Management and Parking Services will be presented with the Community Service Award and the Ron Porter Special Achievement Award will go to longtime business woman and community advocate Virginia Patterson.

With an audience of over 150 distinguished guests, Colorado Tourism Associate Director, John Ricks will serve as the keynote speaker. Ricks will share feedback and results from the state’s current marketing campaign, “Come To Life” that was launched in 2012.
