Downtown Boulder, Inc.’s Annual Luncheon Celebrates Outstanding Individuals and Toasts the Daily Camera

Downtown Boulder’s annual luncheon will honor five outstanding individuals & businesses, as well as host a champagne toast to celebrate the Daily Camera

[Boulder, CO]  January 14, 2010 – On Wednesday, January 19, Downtown Boulder’s annual luncheon at the St Julien Hotel & Spa will recognize individuals and businesses in the downtown Boulder community who help make the district a premiere shopping, dining and entertainment destination.  Business of the Year will be presented to the Daily Camera (a champagne toast will also be given in honor of the paper to celebrate their 120 years in downtown Boulder) and accepted by Publisher, Al Manzi.  Kathy & Robin Beeck, The Boulder International Film Festival will accept the Community Service Award.  Property Owner of the Year will go to Stephen Sparn, Stephen Sparn Architects. Zoe Ma Ma’s owner, Edwin Zoe will accept the Rising Star Awardand the Ron Porter Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Peter Heinz, PEH Architects.

With an audience of over 200 distinguished guests, The Foundry and TechStars Co-Founder, Brad Feld will serve as the keynote speaker.  Feld will present a speech about ‘How to build and sustain an entrepreneurial community.’  “Brad is a perfect example of the savvy, creative second floor talent that can be found throughout downtown,” said Sean Maher, Downtown Boulder’s executive director.  Feld is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of venture capital investing and entrepreneurship. He is also co-author, with TechStars co-founder and CEO David Cohen of the book, Do More Faster: TechStars Lessons to Accelerate Your Start-Up.

Prior to Feld’s address, Andy James (James Property Management), new chair of Downtown Boulder, Inc. will formally welcome new board members, Boni Sandoval (1st National Bank) and Chris Cornelius (Ted’s Montana Grill).
