FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Independence Day Bands on the Bricks Concert on the Pearl Street Mall

Colorado favorite Rebecca Folsom set to perform

BOULDER, CO, June 28, 2012 – A sure sign of summer on the Pearl Street Mall is Bands on the Bricks – celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.  This free Wednesday evening summer concert series brings locals and visitors alike to the heart of the city for dancing and relaxing on one of the most famous pedestrian malls in the world.

This year, Bands on the Bricks will host a special 4th of July performance by Rebecca Folsom.  Always a fan favorite, Folsom is capable of offering the most tender of ballads then effortlessly engaging a wide-open Rock & Roll cathartic release. A seasoned vocalist she moves fluidly through luscious, smoky almost speaking tones, and then delivers Janis Joplinesque impassioned wailing. Folsom's sixth CD Water On Stone is a heart opening, rhythmic romp fueled with stories of meeting today’s challenges and inspirationally rising above. Folsom’s vocals go from vulnerable and soothing to fully engaged rock and roll wailing.

“Although Ralphie's Independence Day Blast has unfortunately been cancelled due to the dangerous fire conditions, the public can still enjoy the holiday on the Pearl Street Mall,” said Anna Salim, event director for Downtown Boulder.   “Rebecca will take the stage at 7 p.m.   We hope people will come down early and enjoy the day people watching, shopping and dining in our district.   Our beer / wine / margarita garden will open at 5:30 p.m. and will feature brews from Upslope.”  City of Boulder parking (garages, street, surface lots) will be free all day on July 4th.

Bands on the Bricks 2012 lineup can be found at www.bandsonthebricks.com.   This year’s series is presented by Four Star Realty and supported by the Daily Camera, KBCO-FM, Guaranty Bank and the City of Boulder Parking Services.
