[Boulder, CO] February 21, 2014 – Downtown Boulder, Inc. is proud to announce details for the 5th annual Taste of Pearl.  Scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2014 this award-winning event will infuse 15 of downtown’s premier retail shops and galleries with mouth-watering samples from some of the most celebrated local restaurants in the state paired with tastings from outstanding Colorado wineries and spirit makers. Individual tickets for Taste of Pearl will go on sale for $75 this Wednesday (February 26) at www.TasteofPearl.com.   Taste of Pearl is capped at 500 attendees per year to ensure an intimate experience.   Selling out the past three years, the 2014 event is expected to draw guests from across the state to experience one-on-one interactions with culinary and wine talent.   

Recognized as one of Colorado’s most prestigious gourmet events, Taste of Pearl will once again highlight a variety of acclaimed restaurants.  Food and wine aficionados will take part in the four hour culinary classic that is fast becoming an iconic fixture in Boulder’s epicurean landscape.   Several of the event’s previous restaurants will be represented as well as some new additions.  Participating restaurants include:

Aji Latin American Restaurant, The Bitter Bar, Brasserie Ten Ten, Centro Latin Kitchen, Flagstaff House, Food at the Riverside, Frasca Food and Wine, Jax Fish House, Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant, The Mediterranean, OAK at Fourteenth, Pizzeria Locale, Q’s Restaurant, Riff’s Urban Fare and SALT Bistro.

Each of the restaurants has been carefully paired with a local Colorado winery and for the very first time, there will be a cider tasting from Rocky Mountain Wild Cider.  Wine and spirit participants include:

Aspen Peak Cellars, Augustina’s Winery, Balistreri Vineyards, Bookcliff Vineyards, Boulder Creek Winery, Garfield Estates Winery, Garrett Estate Cellars, Grande River Vineyards, Kingman Estates Winery, Redstone Meadery, Rocky Mountain Wild Cider, Settembre Cellars, Two Rivers Winery and Verso Cellars.

The tastings will be hosted in 15 of downtown Boulder's most dynamic retailers and galleries. Attendees will have the opportunity to stroll in and out of each location at their leisure throughout the four hour foodie extravaganza.   Host businesses include:

Art + Soul Gallery, Art Source International, Athleta, Barbara & Company, Boulder Book Store, Chelsea, Earthwood Gallery, Gaiam Living, Island Farm, Oliverde, Patagonia, Pedestrian Shops, Savory Spice Shop, Starr’s Clothing & Weekends.

Each Taste of Pearl ticket holder will receive food & wine samplings from all participating restaurants and wineries; keepsake wine glass; re-usable wine-carry bag; a compostable, re-usable wine plate; a $5 savings coupon off the purchase of one bottle of wine from participating wineries; as well as special offers (including discounts and gifts with purchase) and attendee-only drawings from participating host locations. A portion of Taste of Pearl’s proceeds will benefit Boulder's Emergency Family Assistance Association (efaa).  Over the past three years, the event has donated $32,000 to support efaa’s  mission of helping those in the Boulder community who have immediate needs for food, shelter and other basic necessities.

The fifth annual Taste of Pearl is presented by Audi Boulder; supported by First National Bank, the St Julien Hotel & Spa, the Daily Camera, Alex and Ani, Eco Products, Eldorado Natural Spring Water and produced by Downtown Boulder, Inc. (DBI).
