Arts, Crafts and DIY on Pearl

Posted on July 20, 2016

Pinterest, Etsy, and tumblr can be overwhelming with bright and colorful images of handmade crafts and projects that leave us saying, "I wish I could do that!". After seeing beautiful designs and creations at the Pearl Street Arts Fest last week, it's now your time. Professional artist or not, take a journey down the bricks to discover your "just right" supplies or night out that you've been needing to get your creative juices flowing.

On the West End is every paper lover's dream, Two Hands Paperie. Every imaginable texture, color, size, print service that you could imagine is available. Along with journals, cards and handicrafts, Two Hands Paperie features additional art supplies and gifts that makes it almost impossible to leave the store empty handed. Want to take it a step further? Two Hands Paperie also offers an extensive list of classes and workshops.

Tucked just off the bricks lies Fabricate, a warm and colorful environment filled with modern and trendy fabrics. The staff is friendly and eager to help you find just what you need and they love entertaining questions. An attached studio is often filled with kids and adults taking classes or having parties. Don't worry about bringing your own sewing machine, they have you covered!

POSHsplat is the perfect creative excursion. An open space with room for intimacy makes the numerous painting workshops and classes a must do. The staff encourages creativity and for everyone to put their own spin on the painting of the night. The only thing better than a date night or girls night out, is an outing that lets you take your masterpieces home!

One of the best things about Color Me Mine on the East End is the process of picking out a ceramic piece to serve as your blank canvas. The shelves are lined with plates, bowls, mugs, dog/cat dishes, statues, coasters etc. Once you've found the perfect piece, Color Me Mine is ready to help your imagination go wild. Decorating pieces can be as therapeutic as it is fun, especially with friends and family. Make it an outing and bring your friends!

I've always loved art so these places downtown feel just like home. I hope they do for you as well!

Happy creating,
Anna
