As seasons and semesters change, so do the Interns at Downtown Boulder. Landing this summer internship has given me the opportunity to discover new events around Boulder that will keep me occupied during the summer time such as this week’s ‘Boulder Startup Week.’
My first week here at Downtown Boulder is the launch of the five day celebration of this awesome event. They quote, “Boulder is awesome, and we want everyone to know about it.” Agreed! I have lived in Boulder for three years and have yet to attend this event; maybe it’s because I was never 21. If you plan to attend these events, plan to meet people, be social, and have a few cocktails.
The main focus of this event is to introduce young professionals to organizations and employers throughout Boulder to merely network and get their foot in the door. Luckily for me, I was the chosen one to intern at Downtown Boulder, which unfortunately, will prevent me from attending most of the events held this week.
If I do get the chance to attend, there are a few that sound right up my alley…
1)’The Social Marketing for Startups’-Thursday, May 17 at 9:00a.m.: I’m all about social media/ marketing and I’m a startup myself, hence my ‘intern’ status here at Downtown Boulder.
2)’Yoga in the Park (with treats)’-Thursday, May, 17 at 10:00a.m.: This event sounds appealing but unfortunately, 1. I can’t touch my toes, so ‘yoga’ and I aren’t compatible and 2. I’m going to Costa Rica next week so ‘treats’ and I are enemies.
3)’The Humor Code: The Science of Funny (and not so funny) Marketing’-Thursday, May 17, at 1:00p.m.: I’ve always used humor to get away with things even though it has not always worked out for me. This event would help me understand when to keep my ideas and mouth shut during times when humor is not the answer.
With either a break from work, or from my social life, I’ll most certainly make an effort to attend one of the many listed events held during ‘Boulder Startup Week’.
