Back to School Essentials

It feels like just yesterday I was leaving my last final with an overwhelming amount of excitement about summer. Unfortunately this carefree season is being replaced by a demanding one. With August comes the start of a new school year. It can be stressful to think about all the upcoming assignments and tests so shift your thinking to all the good things that come with a new school year, such as new friends, new knowledge, and new school supplies! I have put together a list of Back to School Essentials that will help you thrive this school year...

Everyone wants to look their best on the first day of school and clothing stores downtown are here to help! Pick out any outfit from Elison Rd and I guarantee you will be getting compliments all day. Their simple, yet chic clothing will turn heads as you walk down the hall. As for the guys, you cannot go wrong with Canoe Club. From sleek button ups to trendy bomber jackets, Canoe Club has something for every fella. For my fellow CU students, head over to BoCo Life to get t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and more for all the upcoming football games. Be a loyal CU fan while also supporting a local business!

To prepare for the school year, getting actual school supplies is an obvious must. Start with the item that will be holding all your papers and highlighters: a backpack! You cannot go wrong with getting a backpack from Topo Designs. The backpacks are super stylish and durable, meaning you won’t have to replace it next school year. To make school more fun and exciting, get funky notebooks, planners, pencils, etc. from Two Hands Paperie. Taking notes will suddenly become much more enjoyable.

With Boulder being a college town, many of the young people are from out of town. For any parents that want to help their child prepare for school, but are not in town to shop with them, considering purchasing a Downtown Boulder gift card. Gift Cards can be purchased online, in our office (Broadway & Pearl), or at the Visitor Information Center (13th & Pearl St.) This small act of kindness will show your student that you support them as they take on this school year.

As sad as I am to lose summertime, I am really excited to get back into a routine and begin learning new things everyday. This school year will be full of achievements and failures, both of which will help all of us grow. It’s going to be a terrific year, and I wish everyone good grades, good health, and good times!

Best,

Intern Sally
