Now that Spring Break has come and gone, Graduation is creeping up on us seniors quickly (queue the frantic 22 year olds registering for their diplomas and ordering their caps and gowns). Graduation season is one of the busiest times in this town... Every CU student’s cousin’s cousins are coming to see him or her walk, which means it’s going to be absolutely packed. If you’re a student with parents who like to plan ahead, or you're a parent of a soon-to-be grad, I’ve got just the list to help you organize your special weekend and make it one to remember.
First things first, RESERVATIONS! As we all know Boulder is known as one of America’s foodiest towns, so it’s no surprise that the best spots are filling up as we speak. Pick a few restaurants, and then some backups, and start calling as soon as possible! Personally, my graduation crew is about ten people so space may be a bit of an issue for us. So far, I’ve got reservations at Brasserie Ten Ten, The Med, Oak and The Kitchen, all of which I highly recommend!
Secondly (and in my opinion, most importantly), finding the perfect grad party spot. Luckily, there are an endless number in downtown for the perfect bar and restaurant for your epic send off soiree. If you’re looking for a casual bar with billiards and a nice selection of beers, I recommend you check out The Walrus, The Attic, or License No. 1. If a nice Charcuterie board accompanied with a lovely French white wine is more up your alley, I’d check out the St Julien, Pizzeria Locale or if you’re feeling super fancy, Frasca.
And lastly, as cheesy as it is, the perfect picture. I’m a sucker for a good photograph, and graduation day is most definitely a day that deserves an epic moment captured on camera. So to all the people who hate having their photo taken, suck it up for this day is worthy of remembering. If you're in need of a trendy photo spot, look no further than the gorgeous Boulder creek, the breathtaking view of the Flatiron's from the St Julien Terrace or my personal favorite, the wall of colorful bricks in the alley next to the Biergarten (very Instagram worthy).
Congrats to all my fellow Buffs on their final stretch to graduation! Five weeks left, we can do it.
