For those of you who enjoyed my first two “Downtown On a Dime” posts (If you haven’t, read them here and here!), get ready for more fun and discounts coming at ya! As a shopaholic, there is really nothing I love more than buying an adorable outfit. However, sometimes I find myself questioning whether that top was really worth all the money. As a college student, my shopping budget is pretty tight, so I hit the bricks, did a little shopping, and found the best shops with the best deals!
- Shop the Sales!: Let me be the first to tell you that the sale rack is where it’s at! Pitaya and Savvy are two of my favorite stores downtown with killer sale racks. From unique fashion lines to bigger name brands, these two stores cover all the bases! If you’re on the hunt for something other than clothes, check out the sale racks at Peppercorn for kitchen supplies, POSHSplat for beautiful paintings, or unique collectibles Bliss!
- Gift shopping: Of course, we love splurging on gifts for those we love, but sometimes we don’t have the ends or means to do so. Have no fear, there’s plenty of affordable gift options downtown. I love getting gifts for friends at Where the Buffalo Roam! They sell everything from Broncos and CU gear to funny shirts and gag gifts! Similarly, Jackalope and Company has great items that are perfect for gift giving, and they’re frequently on sale! They just got the cutest Boulder Spirit Jerseys in store that come in a variety of colors; a perfect gift for a girlfriend, daughter, or sister!
- Consignment stores: Before I started working here, I had barely set foot in a consignment store, but now over half my closet is made up of clothes from the many second-hand stores downtown! Some of my favorites are Buffalo Exchange and Common Era. Buffalo Exchange is awesome because not only can you find adorable and fashionable items, you can also bring in and sell or trade in your old clothes! Vintage fashion is making a comeback and Boulder’s Common Era is the best place to stock up on all your vintage needs! From patterned shift dresses to simple accessories, this place really has it all for a great value! In addition, downtown Boulder also has many second-hand bookshops! Trident is one of Boulder’s most famous bookstores, and it’s my personal favorite. Located on the West End, this bookshop sells delicious coffee as well as all genres of used books! If you like Trident, make sure you also check out Beat Book Shop and the Boulder Book Store!
This is just a brief list of all the inexpensive shopping opportunities downtown (see the full list of all shopping options here!), I encourage you to get out and explore all the stores downtown Boulder has to offer. Next time on “Downtown on a Dime”: I’ll be back with low-cost entertainment for you and your friends to enjoy downtown! (*insert dramatic theme music*)
