Celebrate Halloween in Downtown Boulder
How is fall flying by so quickly?! Halloween is next weekend, you guys! I don’t know about everyone else but I’ve loved Halloween since I can remember- and this year is no exception. With “Halloweekend” fast approaching, Boulder is about to be full of ghouls, goblins and fun.
Sure, kids get to go trick-or-treating but that doesn’t mean parents can’t have fun too. Personally, I have my eye on watching Ghostbusters (one of my all time favorite movies) at the Boulder Public Library on Friday. On Saturday, you and your family can attend the Boulder Symphony Kids Halloween Show or, if art is on your mind, POSHSplat is hosting a painting party where you can paint a “Lady Sugar Skull.” The fun doesn’t stop there because, of course, (saving the best for last) the always popular Munchkin Masquerade is on Halloween day from 3- 6 pm. With over 100 treat stops all of the dragons, superheroes, fairies and monsters alike can come together and trick-or-treat until their bellies are full.

While my favorite costumes from last years’ Munchkin Masquerade ranged from a Finding Nemo costume that consisted of a homemade blue balloon ocean reef to the classic pumpkin, I can’t wait to see how all of the crazy events from 2016 (election, anyone?) influence peoples’ costume choices this year. The Ritz and Goldmine Vintage are great places to begin if you’re still looking for a costume idea. How about a Snapchat filter or dressing as one of the presidential candidates, anyone?
Halloween in downtown Boulder isn’t just for the little ones. I hope everyone has their costumes ready because License #1 is having not one, not two but THREE nights of live music, dancing and costume contests for their Halloween Mayhem events that go all weekend. The fun doesn’t end there because Shine is hosting a free dance party on Saturday the 29th with DJ Jason Jahsonic.
Whether you’re a witch, Waldo or a wacky wizard, Halloween in Boulder is guaranteed to be a frighteningly good time.
