Here Comes the 4th of July!

Post Date: Tuesday, July 2, 2019

The 4th of July has always had a special place in my heart. This holiday takes place at the peak of summer, when the temperature is just right. In case you didn’t know, the 4th of July is this Thursday and I’m here to inform you of all the activities and celebrations happening this week so you can celebrate to the fullest!

A popular Boulder event on the 4th of July is Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast. This beloved event is held at Folsom Field, making it the perfect spot for University of Colorado fans to watch an epic fireworks show. This fireworks show is not within the downtown Boulder district, but keep in mind that parking in downtown Boulder is free on weekends and holidays. There will also be free HOP and Buff Bus services available on the 4th that go from downtown Boulder directly to Folsom Field, making transportation a breeze. If you prefer to stay downtown for the show, the Museum of Boulder is the place to go. The Museum of Boulder is offering their rooftop deck, which has a spectacular view of the colorful fireworks!

There are fun, patriotic activities and sales happening all week in downtown Boulder that you will not want to miss. POSHsplat is holding a kids and adult painting class of the American flag on July 3rd. You will leave the paint class with the perfect, handmade decoration in hand! Bliss wants to make your 4th of July as sparkly and colorful as possible! Colorado Fairy Hair will be at Bliss from 11 am - late afternoon on July 4th and July 6th to put dazzling silk strands in your hair. Be sure to book your appointment today! In addition to these 4th of July festivities, be sure to come to the weekly downtown Boulder favorites: Bands on the Bricks on Wednesday night to catch a performance by Bonnie and Clydes and the Boulder County Farmers Markets on Wednesday evening and Saturday.

Not only is Independence Day happening this week, Independents Week is also occurring from July 1st to July 7th. This is the time to support the local businesses in downtown Boulder! A shocking 75% of our downtown businesses are locally owned and operated, so pop into these shops and restaurants this week to show your appreciation! As a way to celebrate our independents, we will be posting a new Boulder itinerary from local business owners on our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)  everyday this week. Be sure to check out My Boulder Itineraries and read about downtown Boulder business owners’ and managers’ favorite spots in the area. Take the experts’ suggestions!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday!

Best,

Intern Sally
