Lights, Camera, Holiday Cheer!
Sure, it’s still seventy degrees out most days and there may not be any snow on the ground just yet but that doesn’t change the fact that the holidays are just around the corner. Along with holiday festivities quickly approaching, it’s the perfect time of the year to shop local and show love to small businesses here in Downtown Boulder. Below are a few other ways to start getting into the holiday spirit.
Switch On the Holidays
Next Sunday, Nov. 20, at 5 pm Switch on the Holidays will get everyone in the holiday spirit with Santa himself! With the help of Old St. Nick, the Pearl Street Mall and Boulder County Courthouse will be illuminated in lights. Along with the always popular St. Nick, members of Boulder’s Chorale and Children’s Chorale will lead a Holiday sing-along performance.
Small Business Saturday
Throughout this entire month, Love The Local highlights small, local businesses in Downtown Boulder through interviews and questions about how the stores came to be and more. On Saturday Nov. 26, Small Business Saturday, gives the Boulder community the opportunity to showcase its support for these one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants and meet downtown business owners at Love The Local.
St. Nick on the Bricks
If you miss the chance to see the jolly man himself as Switch on the Holidays have no fear! Santa will be back Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturdays Nov. 26 through Dec. 24 from 10 am - 2 pm at the Downtown Boulder Visitor Information Center - admission is free with the only necessity a smile and holiday cheer.
Lights of December Parade
In its 29th year, the parade is not an event to miss! With floats decorated and created by everyone’s favorite local businesses. Alongside the floats will be holiday carolers, marching bands, fire engines and more. Also, spoiler alert - this year the grand finale entails a special appearance from Santa Claus himself.
I love every season for a different reason. This time of year, however, always makes me eager for snow (hello ski season!), time spent with family and friends and the thrill of the New Year being just around the corner.
