Not All Texans Ski in Jeans

Category: Boulder Blog

Post Date: Friday, June 2, 2017

Greetings Buffs, Boulderites, and blog readers alike!

I’d like to introduce myself as Downtown Boulder’s newest Marketing and Communications summer intern! My name is Dave Armstrong and I will be taking over as a new voice for the blog, content producer, phone answerer, and fulfiller of other office administration duties. I am a Texan by birth, but a mountain child at heart, raised in the valley of Jackson Hole, WY. I decided to transition from the Tetons to the Flatirons to pursue a degree in Marketing at the Leeds School of Business here at CU, with a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Technology, Arts & Media.

If I’m not tending to school work and my responsibilities, you can find me taking advantage Boulder’s luscious nature and incredible weather (favorite spots being Boulder Creek, Flagstaff Mountain, or my front yard hammock). If it’s winter time, I will without a doubt be up in the mountains, skiing deep snow or riding rails, and even though I am from Texas I do not ski in jeans.

As the remaining snow melts and the UV index elevates, I begin adjusting to my internship here at Downtown Boulder, learning to make cold calls, oversee the blog; contribute to Twitter, and answer the phone with a refined grace. Although I will be entering my Senior year in the fall, interning here on Pearl Street for three days has already opened my eyes to an incredible amount of food, beverage and fun that has sadly slipped under my radar. I would have previously considered myself an expert on downtown life, more specifically where to best stuff my belly and have a cool, crisp drink (Tahona Bistro gets my number one pick for tacos and tequila)! However, Downtown Boulder and the Pearl Street Mall have so much to offer it’s easy to miss some gems and hard to do it all… I’m slightly disappointed it has taken me this long to ask for the Das Boot at Biergarten.

I look forward to keeping you all updated on my new pursuit to experience it all, drink it all, and eat it all while simultaneously holding down the office and being a young professional here at Downtown Boulder!

Yours truly,

Dave Armstrong
