Summer has arrived once again in Boulder, bringing with it Boulder County’s best concert series, Bands on the Bricks. This 10 week event (Wednesdays, June 12th - August 14th) will feature five returning artists and will welcome five newbies. Fan favorites that we are excited to be welcoming back include the Hazel Miller Band and That Eighties Band (same night as the Pearl Street Mile!). A few that you don’t want to miss, include Mountain Standard Time and The Tyler Walker Band.
Bands on the Bricks also features an outdoor beer, wine, and margarita garden that opens at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday night. There will be rotating breweries every three weeks: West Flanders Brewing Co. (from June 12th - June 26th), Avery Brewing Co. (July 3rd - July 24th) and Upslope Brewing Company (July 31st - August 14th). And if you need to get your margarita fix, Boulder’s local Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant will be here to stay for the full ten week concert series. Prices are $5 for beer and wine and $8 for margaritas.
I know most cities have their way of bringing together the community in the summertime for festivals, outdoor theatre, and live music etc. However, Boulder’s Bands on the Bricks has been around the longest, and is accompanied by local brewing companies (among Colorado’s many wonderful qualities). I personally can’t wait to rock out to the bluegrass band Mountain Standard Time on July 17th. I am crossing my fingers they play Some Random Jam. This concert series gives you Boulderites some time to unwind halfway through that work week, and enjoy those warm summer nights we miss so much in January. So come out and enjoy one of the many gems that Boulder has to offer, I know I will.
