Greetings from Downtown Boulder!
As always, downtown is the place to be for St. Patrick’s Day! I am so excited to celebrate this year since I haven’t had the opportunity in the past. School has always come first but this year I will finally be able to enjoy all that downtown has to offer from shamrock cookies to Irish music! I am all set to sport my green sparkle shamrock sunglasses! Here are a few exciting St. Patrick’s Day spots to visit. Grab your green gear and come see how Boulder celebrates!
Conor O’Neill’s Irish Pub and Restaurant:
Downtown Boulder is lucky to have an authentic Irish Pub right off the bricks. Conor O’Neill’s is hosting an annual Parade day, featuring The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade at noon on May 12th. In the past, participants have showcased their red beards, shamrock glasses and Irish top hats. There will be live acoustic music by Troy Clayton and Irish dancers following the parade from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. The fun doesn’t end there! You can also join the Irish pub for an evening of traditional Irish music Sunday night, March 12th, from 7:30 pm – 12:00 am. Feel free to bring your own instrument and join the session!
Cured is excited St. Patrick’s Day finally falls on a Friday! Enjoy an Irish inspired Friday Night Dinner featuring their corned beef. The corned beef is dry brined over several days and slow cooked until it’s meltingly tender and moist. The corned beef is served with Brown Butter Rutabaga Purée, Dry Cider Braised Cabbage with Bacon and Caraway and Irish Soda Bread Pudding with Leopold’s Apple Whiskey and Orange. The price is $57 for two. Sounds like quite the Irish feast!
Lazy Dog Sports Bar and Grill:
For some late night entertainment, you’re in luck! Tenth Mountain Division will be performing at the Lazy Dog on Friday, March 17th from 10:00 pm – 2:00 am. TMD is a rock ‘n’ roll fusion band that embodies the wild spirit of the mountain towns. I was able to see my friend Winston and his band mates perform a memorable night at Boulder’s Fox Theatre. It’s been four months since they have played in their hometown of Boulder and are eager to showcase their new material! They recently finished recording their new album, Crack in the Sky, which you can download for free or purchase for only $10. Grab an Irish car bomb while supporting my friends for an awesome St. Patty’s Day Bash!
You can always count on Snooze for creating a delicious, holiday-inspired pancake! Last year, they featured a sweet potato pancake topped with Carolyn’s cream and corned beef hash benedict with a green mimosa.
Piece, Love and Chocolate:
Stop in to Piece, Love, and Chocolate for a sweet treat! They are currently featuring their artisan white chocolate short bread shamrock cookies with white chocolate icing until St. Patrick’s Day!
West End Tavern:
All week, West End Tavern will have whiskey and food specials! Enjoy Irish dishes such as shepherd’s pie and corn beef hash. On Wednesday, March 15th, there will be half price whiskey along with $6 Jameson shots for happy hour on Thursday, March 16th. On St. Patrick’s Day, there will also be Irish dancers at 5:30 pm and drink specials all day!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day! See you out there!
