This year is my first summer in Boulder. At this point, I’m pretty sure I’ve watched every single series on Netflix, so I figure it’s time to start exploring downtown! To get some ideas, I decided to check out Downtown Boulder’s Summer Guide. The first thing that caught my eye was obviously the Downtown Dining page, because my favorite activities all involve food. Once I finished drooling, I decided it was time to find a summer event to attend. Downtown Boulder’s Summer Guide book lists tons of events, but I was having some serious trouble picking the right one for me.
In order for me to choose between all of the amazing happenings listed in the Summer Guide, I had to do some intense self-reflection. I want to help my audience truly understand me, and the type of activity I would enjoy, by painting you a picture of myself. So here it goes: I’m 200 lbs of pure muscle. That’s right! You’ve got yourself a body builder! I’m actually typing this blog with one hand, while lifting weights with the other. I’m even sitting on one of those completely necessary yoga balls to tighten my core. I’m what you would call a real-life Ironman. So naturally, I will be attending IRONMAN Boulder. IRONMAN Boulder is a triathlon happening in Boulder on August 2, 2015. The majority of the race will take place on the beautiful Boulder Creek Path. The entirety of the race will take place with me in first place.
In case you haven’t quite mastered sarcasm yet, I’m not really a 200 lb., body-building superstar. In fact, I am more of the hipster type. I wear glasses without a prescription. The colors in my wardrobe consist of many different shades of black. And if you like a song, then I definitely do not like that song. So, this summer, I will be attending Pearl Street Arts Fest on July 18th and 19th.
I will also be stopping by every artist’s booth with a fun comment like, “The vision here is so clear, yet so abstract.” I’m a self-proclaimed expert.
Okay, those descriptions aren’t entirely accurate. I will be attending IRONMAN Boulder, but it’s because I honestly can’t pass up any event happening near Boulder Creek, and I consider myself a pretty graceful loser. I will also be attending Pearl Street Arts Fest because I find pretty much any piece of artwork exciting and beautiful, and I am genuinely interested in the work of local Boulder artists, and those that want to come here to showcase their work!
If you are not into art or fitness, it’s okay, there is a million things happening downtown this summer. To help you get started on your new adventures, check out Downtown Boulder’s Summer Guide. I have a strong feeling you will end up having a wonderful, new experience or two. Don’t worry, you can trust me. I never lie!
