The Patios of Downtown Boulder

Posted on July 8, 2013

It is no secret that summer in Boulder is the time to do all things outdoors, and that includes dining. Whether you are looking for intimate dining or a high energy dining experience, this foodie downtown will satisfy your needs inside and out!

When I first started brainstorming our best dining patios instantly twenty came to mind, so I’m categorizing by size and experience. No matter the restaurant, you will be surrounded by Boulder’s natural essence- from bikers to sidewalk entertainment, people-watching is one of the fun benefits of outdoor dining.

Some of downtown’s larger patios include:

Centro Latin American Kitchen- It’s large outdoor patio space gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the Colorado sunshine, while either at the bar or a table. Centro also has an amazing happy hour you don’t want to miss!

Others include: Antica Roma, Bacaro Venetian Taverna, Snooze, Cheesecake Factory, Sherpa’s Adventures and Old Chicago.

If you’re looking for sidewalk seating these restaurants are for you:

Aji, Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant, West Flanders Brewing Co., Ted’s Montana Grill, Sushi Tora, Boulder Café, Hapa Sushi Grill & Sake Bar, Mateo, Tahnona Tequila Bistro, Rueben's Burger Bistro, Walnut Brewery, Salt the Bistro, The Kitchen [Next Door], Pasta Jays, Riffs Urban Fare, and Trattoria.

Wanting a more intimate patio experience? Check out:

Pizzeria Locale, PastaVino, Shine Restaurant and Gathering Place, Zoe Ma Ma, Jax Fish House, West End Tavern, Frasca Food & Wine, The Kitchen, The Med, Pizza Colore, Woody Creek Bakery and Café, Georges Food & Drink, Dish Gourmet, Lucile’s Creole Café, T|Aco, and L’Atelier.

Want to dine on a rooftop overlooking the city of Boulder?

The Lazy Dog Sports Bar & Grill, The Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, West End Tavern and Boulder Absinthe House offer roof top seating overlooking downtown and the majestic Flatirons.

If you are looking for a local hangout where you can sit and read a book or meet a friend some of Boulders local coffee shops should do the trick. These include:

The Cup, Trident Booksellers and Cafe, Ozo Coffee Shop, Starbucks, The Unseen Bean, The Laughing Goat Coffeehouse, Spruce Confections, Amante Coffee, Boxcar Coffee Roasters and Atlas Purveyors.

Boulder patios are a great place to meet friends and family for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
