Hi everyone! My name is Alicia, and I am Downtown Boulder’s new spring intern! To start, I am so excited to work behind the scenes and participate in what makes downtown so special. This will be my last semester at CU Boulder and working with this organization feels like the perfect place to close this chapter on my college career.

You could say I am a Boulder native since I was practically born on CU’s campus. My mom had me in her last year at CU and I even attended a few of her classes. Growing up I frequented what I used to call ‘rocket ship park’ (Scott Carpenter), as well as Pearl Street and grew to love Boulder as my home. Naturally, when it was time to apply to colleges, it felt unacceptable to attend a college other than CU. I am now a senior at CU studying Marketing with a certificate in International Business. In my small amount of free time I am often found skiing, hiking, at art museums or most likely, at a nearby brunch (Snooze) or Taco Tuesday spot (Tahona).

Living and working in Boulder has given me the opportunity to spend a lot of time in downtown. Working at Tahona Tequila Bistro also gave me the opportunity to fall in love with the West End. Here are some of my top West End spots:

Trident Booksellers: There’s something special about a used bookstore. I know everyone is different when it comes to books, for me a pre loved book makes me feel even more connected to a story. Trident is also a one stop shop for my two favorite things… books AND coffee!

BarTaco: I am really loving BarTaco’s food, drinks and atmosphere. I love their vegetarian options, the falafel taco is surprisingly yummy and if you’ve never had Mexican corn on the cob, BarTaco is a great place to try it!

Ozo Coffee: I absolutely love Ozo, their Bergen Mocha is my favorite almond milk drink! They also host events and classes. They’re perfect for learning new coffee-making skills or if you’re just really dying to become a coffee snob (personally I am hoping to become a better coffee snob)!

I am so looking forward to getting to know more about downtown, exploring all the things it has to offer and sharing it with all of you! For now, wish me luck, and stay tuned for my next post!

Alicia
