Downtown Boulder’s Lights of December Parade Makes Spirits Bright this Saturday Starting at 6 p.m.

A hometown holiday parade in the heart of the city featuring over 50 local entries


Boulder, Colo. (November 29, 2011):  This Saturday, December 3, Downtown Boulder, Inc. (DBI) presents the 24th annual Lights of December Parade.   This year, crowds will enjoy over 50 local entries.  Groups include: area businesses, churches, nonprofits, school groups, girl scouts, boy scouts, city and county departments. Both the Fairview and Boulder High School marching bands will be in attendance.  The Swing Dancing Elves will entertain spectators and fire trucks, as well as the Boulder Cruiser Club, will be decked out in lights.  

This beloved night time parade begins at 6 pm at 15th and Walnut streets moving west to 11th Street. The route then heads north on 11th Street to Spruce Street where it goes east ending at 15th and Spruce streets. There are two reviewing stands, one located at 14th and Walnut streets and the other at 11th and Pearl streets.  Attendees are encouraged to park for free in one of the five City of Boulder parking structures (BoulderParking.com) and to pay special attention to event  ‘No Parking’ signs along and adjacent to the parade route.

DBI hopes people will come early to shop, dine and explore the Holiday Festival of Trees benefiting Meals on Wheels Boulder.  More information about the parade and the participating Festival of Trees businesses can be found online at DowntownBoulderHolidays.com.

“There is no better way to celebrate small businesses and our city’s community spirit than our annual Lights of December Parade,” said Sean Maher, executive director of DBI.  “The parade showcases community groups and local businesses who come together to ring in the holiday season in the heart of our vibrant downtown district. “                                                                                                                                          

Prior to the Lights of December Parade, Santa will be greeting visitors at the Visitor Information Center (1301 Pearl Street) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Downtown Boulder’s St. Nick on the Bricks.  From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. every Saturday through December 17, Santa and Mrs. Claus are ready to chat with guests and pose for free photo ops!
Downtown Boulder’s Lights of December Parade and St. Nick on the Bricks are free events and open to the public.   These annual events are produced by Downtown Boulder, Incorporated and sponsored by the Daily Camera, City of Boulder Parking Services, Tebo Development Company & Broadway Suites.
