Bands on the Bricks Music Series Kicks Off June 16 with Paper Bird (and a Beer Garden)

Enjoy free concerts every Wednesday on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall as
Downtown Boulder’s Bands On the Bricks celebrates 12 seasons as of one of the most
popular outdoor summer music series in the metro area


BOULDER CO, June 7, 2010 – Downtown Boulder, Inc.’s (DBI) summer concert series, Bands
on the Bricks, launches next Wednesday (June 16) with local indy rock favorite, Paper Bird. The
seven-piece band consists of three female singers, accompanied by banjo, guitar, stand-up bass
and trombone. They were voted in the Top 10 Best Underground Bands by Denver Post two
years in a row, as well as featured in last year’s 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town issue where
they received the honor of “Top Local Band”.


In addition to Paper Bird, this season’s Bands on the Bricks lineup shines the spotlight on some
of the hottest artists and most beloved acts the Front Range has to offer. The schedule includes
performances by:

June 23 – The Nacho Men
June 30 – Hazel Miller
July 7 – Deja Blu
July 14 – Quemando
July 21 – Kutandara
July 28 – The Fab 4
August 4 – Face
August 11 – That Eighties Band
August 18 – Funkiphino


“We have a fantastic summer music season in store for visitors to Downtown Boulder,” said
Sean Maher, executive director of Downtown Boulder. “Where else but the Pearl Street Mall
can you enjoy free concerts featuring great music and dancing with the Flatirons as the
backdrop?” Adds DBI Event Manager, Anna Salim, “Bands on the Bricks provides an
excellent opportunity for local music fans to hear some of the most popular groups in the metro
area for free, while introducing some other great local talent who have never played our concert
series before. We are really excited about this year’s lineup!”

Anew component to Bands on the Bricks is a beer garden which will feature cold libations from
The Boulder Draft House ($5 for 16 oz. cup), as well as wine. The beer garden will open every
Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and concerts will start at 7 p.m. in front of the Boulder County
Courthouse on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall.


Downtown Boulder's Bands on the Bricks is a free event and open to the public. Sponsors
