Boulder County’s Favorite Summer Concert Series Return to the Pearl Street Mall

Downtown Boulder’s Bands on the Bricks and Noon Tunes kick off their ten week seasons next week

 [BOULDER, CO] June 4, 2013 –The bricks are alive with the sound of music all summer long. Starting next week, Downtown Boulder, Inc.’s (DBI) two free summer concert series, Bands on the Bricks and Noon Tunes debut their 2013 seasons starting on Wednesday, June 12 with a performance by Funkiphino during Bands on the Bricks and Kort McCumber & The High Road on Friday, June 14 during Noon Tunes.  All Bands on the Bricks performances kick off at 7 PM and Noon Tunes at 12 PM – both on Pearl Street’s 1300 block.

This year’s Bands on the Bricks 16th season includes a wide variety of genres.  From ‘80s and ‘90s cover bands, a U2 tribute band, bluegrass and country tunes to the always popular Hazel Miller Band, concert goers will enjoy 10 weeks of music filled Wednesday evenings on the one and only Pearl Street Mall.  “We have a fantastic lineup this year,” said Anna Salim, DBI event director. “I’m very excited about the bands that we’ve booked.  Five of the ten have never played Bands on the Bricks before.  Our audience is going to experience a great season.”

For the third year, the Bands on the Bricks zero waste Beer Garden will welcome guests starting at 5:30 PM.  This year,  West Flander’s Brewery will provide their micro brews from June 12 – June 26.  Avery will be the featured beer July 3 – July 24 and Upslope brews will close out the season between July 31 – August 14.  Beer and wine can be purchased for $5 per glass.  New this year, Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant margaritas will be featured for $8 per glass.

On Fridays, there’s no better place to enjoy lunch than on the Pearl Street Mall while listening to local artists perform mainly all original songs in the genres of folk, rock, Americana and more.   The July concerts are dedicated to children's entertainment  - perfect for the young and those young at heart.  “This is our second year of providing a month of children’s entertainment,” said Salim.  “The kids’ entertainment was a huge hit last year.   We had a great turnout and a lot of happy parents thanking us for providing a few hours of fun every Friday afternoon.” A complete lineup can be found at TunesAtNoon.com.  Noon Tunes is produced by DBI; and sponsored by Broadway Suites, Guaranty Bank and Trust, Colorado State Bank & Trust, the Daily Camera, Eldorado Natural Spring Water & City of Boulder Parking Services.
