Downtown Boulder's 29th Annual Fall Fest Happens This Weekend on the Pearl Street Mall

Category: Press Room

The three day autumn celebration features live music celebrating tribute bands, the Firefly Handmade Market, and a children’s activity area

[Boulder, CO]  September 13, 2016 –   For the past 29 years, one of Downtown Boulder, Inc.’s (DBI) most popular events has been Fall Fest.  Unlike a traditional Oktoberfest, Fall Fest takes the best of a variety of elements and puts them all together for a weekend of entertainment for the entire family.  Kids have the opportunity to explore a climbing wall and bounce house obstacles in the children’s activity area (on 14th Street). New this year, the Firefly Handmade Market will host their Fall Market on Saturday and Sunday during the event.

This year’s musical lineup spotlights tribute bands from all eras.  The performances begin Friday night at 5:30 p.m. with Soul Sacrifice (tribute to Santana) followed by The Police tribute band, Message in a Bottle.  Saturday’s performances include a tribute to Steely Dan (My Old School) and Sunday concludes with Hey, Lady! – a B-52s tribute band.   For a complete schedule of the musical lineup visit BoulderFallFest.com.

On Saturday and Sunday (September 17 & 18) starting at 11 a.m., Fall Fest will host the Firefly Handmade Market featuring 100 artisans showcasing local goods.  The Market will take place on Pearl Street between 15th and 16th streets. Firefly Markets feature local artists, carefully curated hand-crafted jewelry and gifts. The pop-up markets draw a loyal following of vendors and customers who are passionate about the handmade movement, and who have made it the largest premier "handmade only" market in Boulder and the Front Range.

This year the beer/wine/margarita garden on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall will feature brews from Avery Brewing Company ($5/glass) and legendary margaritas from the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant ($8/glass).  Local food options will be available from Boulder Bowls, Fast Eddie's Hot Dogs, McDevitt Taco Supply & Falafel King – not to mention the many restaurants throughout downtown located on the Pearl Street Mall and adjacent streets.
