Category: Press Room

Drink masters ready to compete for the audience vote to determine the best mixologist in Boulder

Boulder, Colo. (February 16, 2012): Experience fun, fast-paced action on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Boulder's Best Mixologist competition sponsored by 303 Vodka. Savor, critique, and vote for the best inventive cocktails prepared by an elite group of downtown Boulder's drink masters.  At the end of the event, attendee votes decide the winner - who along with bragging rights will possess the Kidrobot custom designed trophy until the 2013 competition.
This year’s event will take place at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $45 in advance (www.BouldersBestMixologist.com) and $50 at the door.  With only a limited number of tickets available – pre-purchased tickets are highly recommended.   A portion of the proceeds will be donated to BMoCA.

Contestants include mixologists representing:  Aji, Hapa Sushi, The Kitchen, OAK at Fourteenth, The Pinyon, Riff’s, SALT and the West End Tavern.  Boulder’s Best Mixologist 2011 is Rachel Ellenberger, a former mixologist at OAK at Fourteenth.  Ellenberger secured the win using 303 Vodka’s Chili Basil Infused vodka. The winning mixture also included ginger simple syrup (a blend of sugar and water), mango juice, citrus and was garnished with candied mint leaves.

"Downtown has become cocktail central with people coming from near and far to seek out our mixologists. This is a great way to sample the creative talents of some of the best bartenders in the U.S." said Sean Maher, executive director of Downtown Boulder.   Randi Curtis, the event’s founder adds, “In a town known for creativity and innovation, a mixologist competition showcasing the talent that can be found throughout the downtown district is a perfect complement to the phenomenal dining scene that has exploded here over the past few years.”Curtis’ company, Randi C. Events partnered with Downtown Boulder, Inc. earlier this year to co-produce the event in downtown.
