A Day on The West End with Alpine Modern

Lon McGowan is the owner of Alpine Modern Coffee Bar on the West End. He believes in making specialty coffees and foods approachable while maintaining a high level of craft. The coffee bar not only serves the neighborhood but has become a destination for others that seek the alpine modern experience.

When I first arrive downtown, I always go to Alpine Modern Coffee Bar for my morning cappuccino and avocado toast. For lunch I’ll head to The Kitchen where I'll sit outside with a friend if the weather is nice.

After lunch is a good time for a stroll through Pearl Street to browse all of the shops. Some of my favorites on the West End include Fjallraven, Cedar & Hyde, Topo Designs, SmithKlein Gallery, and Two Hands Paperie. There are some great shops West of 9th street. Keep walking!

After shopping, I'll hit happy hour at Bartaco with obligatory chips and guac. Jax Fish House also has an amazing happy hour. Just a few blocks east of the West End is Oak at Fourteenth - a must when I’m downtown. A good night ends with a nightcap at Bitter Bar,  and from there I’ll head home to put my kids to bed.
