Downtown Insider with BMoCA

David Dadone is the Executive Director + Chief Curator of Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA). Located next to the Dushambe Tea House just east of Central Park on 13th Street. BMoCA is a catalyst for creative experiences through the exploration of significant art of our time, and serves over 114,000 people each year through 9+ exhibitions, 7 education programs, and over 500 events.

It’s so great to work for BMoCA, which is in the perfect location to take advantage of all downtown Boulder has to offer. When I need a breath of fresh air and a coffee break, Boxcar is my favorite place to go. I have a sweet tooth, and bring pastries from Spruce Confections to the office all of the time.

I like to say that cooking is my art and my way to express myself – I’ll buy spices from Savory Spice Shop for my own cooking, and I love that there are so many amazing restaurants downtown. The Med or Brasserie Ten Ten is where you can usually find me for lunch meetings with artists, curators, and patrons of the museum. I go to the Boulder County Farmers Market every Wednesday afternoon to stock up on fresh food for the rest of the week, and am so excited Gelato Boy has a stand this year!

When I need catering for an evening Opening Reception or special event at BMoCA like ARTMIX, Cured is the first place I call. After events, I’ll go out for drinks and a late meal at Bramble & Hare or Oak.
