Summer Saturday with Experimac

Bryce Avallone is the owner of Experimac and has been a boulder resident for 27 years. After working as a consultant, Bryce wanted to open up a business in the heart of Boulder. In 2017, he opened Experimac right downtown. As a true Boulder local, Bryce had plenty of wonderful recommendations for anyone wanting to spend a summer Saturday Downtown.

To start the morning off we are big fans of Snooze.  But it is really popular so you need to get there early – especially if the weather is fine. Another breakfast favorite is Spruce Confections. It’s a great place to get a coffee and a fresh pastry.

Next, I like to do some shopping. My wife and I are both big fans of cooking at home, and we love the selection at Peppercorn.  They have great cookbooks, kitchen items, and a huge selection of rubs and spices. Another favorite is Patagonia. It is one of my favorite companies and they have great outdoors and casual clothing. Since I have been bald now for a few decades, I am a big fan of hats.  The Goorin Bros. Hat Shop has a great selection!

For dinner there are almost too many good choices for quality restaurants downtown.  Our favorites are The Kitchen for local fresh food, Jax for seafood and happy hour, and The Mediterranean for small plates. If we’re wanting a sweet treat Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has the best dark chocolate truffles. And my wife really enjoys their sugar-free chocolates.

If we’re trying to catch a show after dinner, I cannot say enough good things about the Boulder Theater.  It is a beautiful historic building, and it is the perfect size for a show (large enough to have great crowd energy but small enough to feel part of the stage), and they have an amazing lineup of both big-name bands and local favorites.
