Summer Saturday with Liberty Puzzles

Liberty Puzzles are classic wooden jigsaw puzzles.  Each one contains dozens of hand-drawn “whimsy” pieces intricately cut into the shapes of characters, animals, and geometric designs. Chris Wirth started the company as an homage to his childhood and his mother’s original wooden puzzles that he grew up assembling on family vacations.
Today, Liberty Puzzles have become a throwback to the golden age of jigsaw puzzles and are being used as a social vehicle that brings people together for long periods of time to sit and talk. “It’s a decidedly non-digital experience,” says Wirth. “One we could all use a little more of.”

For me, a great day in Downtown Boulder starts off with a yoga class in one of the many studios Boulder has to offer. Check out the free weekly classes prAna offers. I like to follow this up with a cup of coffee at Trident Booksellers and Cafe on the West End of Pearl. It’s the oldest coffee house in Boulder and is a great spot to meet up with friends or grab a cup of coffee on the go.

If I’m looking to do some shopping, I like to stop by Canoe Club on 7th. They hands down have the best menswear in Boulder and have done an extraordinary job curating a shop with offerings ranging from Americana style to contemporary classics.

For a family dinner, the absolute best pizza in town is Pizzeria Locale. This has become a staple in our family routine and we find ourselves dining their every few weeks. They also share a wine list with Frasca which is an added benefit. After dinner, we frequently stop by Into the Wind. It’s the greatest store for kids of all ages with games, toys, and even a lava lamp or two.

If you’re looking for a great spot for date night, try Jax Fish House. If possible, try to make a reservation - it’s a popular spot, especially for Happy Hour. When we have out of town guests, The Kitchen is a great choice. They have ample seating, fantastic service, and delicious eats.

These are only a few of our favorite places in this amazing town.
