Hi Downtown Boulder Readers!

Love is in the air…and I’ve got you covered with some Valentine’s Day date night ideas and gift options for that special someone in your life. First, let’s start with dinner.

I’m glad to say two beloved downtown restaurants are reopening for Valentine’s Day Weekend after 6 weeks of renovation. Pizzeria Locale and Frasca Food and Wine are both amazing options for authentic Italian cuisine. Pizzeria Locale’s remodel will transport you to southern Italy through classic Napoleta pizzas and a regional Italian wine list. Frasca Food and Wine pulls inspiration from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a subalpine region in northeast Italy. You and your date will be taken through a 5-course meal ($195) of the region’s finest dishes, like hazelnut risotto and black bass spigola. Don’t forget to enjoy a wine pairing throughout the meal ($110).

Frank’s Chophouse and Gemini are two more great restaurants offering special Valentine’s Day menus. Gemini has added 7 additional items to their menu for Valentine’s Day weekend, from lobster croquetas to chocolate pots de creme. If you plan on going more traditional with Frank’s Chophouse, don’t eat too much during the day! Their first entree is a 32 oz. Colorado-raised CAB porterhouse steak for two served with Italian oyster mushroom risotto and grilled broccolini ($200). For the second entree, I recommend getting one of each choice of butcher’s steak & blue cheese and swordfish steak ($140). Included with the entrees are two glasses of Piper Heidsieck Champagne and special surprise tasting plates by the chef. Some more special Valentine’s Day menus can be found at Jax Fish House, Centro, The Post Chicken and Beer and West End Tavern

For a more interactive date with your Valentine, visit Color Me Mine. The Paint-It-Yourself Ceramic Studio allows you to tap into your creative side and make a sentimental item to help remember this year’s Valentine’s Day. The $10 studio fee covers all the paints, supplies, glazing and firing! You and your date are then free to make as many pieces of pottery as your hearts desire (~$20-35). After 4 - 5 days your masterpieces will be ready to be picked up, and they will be food safe, microwavable safe and dishwasher safe.

If you and your date are looking for a full night’s experience on Valentine’s Day, look into the St Julien Hotel & Spa’s Romance Package (~$500). You will be greeted with a chilled bottle of champagne paired with chocolate-covered strawberries and a $150 hotel credit that can be used at Jill’s Restaurant and Bistro. Indulge in their special Valentine’s Day menu (February 11 -  February 14) that offers a full 4-course meal for couples ($149).

If you’re looking for some shopping bargains this Valentine’s weekend, you’re in luck! Downtown Boulder’s Mid Winter Sale kicks off Friday, February 11. Browse dozens of shops on and off the Bricks from Jones + CO Modern Mercantile to Gypsy Jewel. If you need some inspiration for that special Valentine’s Day gift, check out our Valentine’s Day Gift Guide.

February is a great time to show the people you love how much you care. I hope that my blog has given you some new ideas to help celebrate with those you love... Happy Valentine’s Day from the heart of Boulder!

See you around Downtown,

Alex
