Downtown Boulder, Inc.’s (DBI) Annual Luncheon Celebrated Downtown Businesses & Individuals on February 12th

In addition to recognizing key individuals for their contributions to the downtown district, DBI’s annual luncheon featured a keynote address by Galvanize’s Co-founder & CEO, Jim Deters

[Boulder, CO]  February 17, 2015 –  DBI’s Annual Awards Luncheon took  place on February 12th at the St Julien Hotel & Spa.  This year’s Ron Porter Special Achievement Award was presented to Marilyn Haas.   Haas was the first Executive Director of DBI and played a pivotal role in the 1999 creation of the Downtown Boulder Business Improvement District.  Other award recipients include:

Business of the Year – Boulder Brands
Shining Star – Starr’s Clothing Co.
Tech Innovator of the Year - Simple Energy
Event Hero – Carl Mohr
Inaugural George Karakehian Community Service Award – George Karakehian

With a sold out audience of over 250 distinguished guests  - including city officials, city council representatives, and business & property owners, Sean Maher, DBI’s CEO, kicked off the luncheon with a State of Downtown report.  Following the awards presentations, Jim Deters, Co-Founder and CEO of Galvanize presented a keynote address about Downtown Boulder’s unique startup community landscape and specifically the future of Galvanize as they gear up to be one of the first tenants in the new PearlWest property (former Daily Camera building).  
The DBI Annual Luncheon was presented by PearlWest with West End Tavern providing the Awards sponsorship.
