From fire trucks to cruiser bikes, Boulder’s best hometown holiday parade is ready to light up  downtown

Boulder, Colo. [November 26, 2013]:   On Saturday,  December 7, the 26th annual  Lights of December Parade will roll through the streets of downtown Boulder starting at 6 p.m.  This beloved community holiday tradition begins at 15th and Walnut streets moving west to 11th Street. The route then heads north on 11th Street to Spruce Street where it goes east ending at 15th and Spruce streets. There are two reviewing stands, one located at 14th and Walnut streets and the other at 11th and Pearl streets.   

Attendees will enjoy 60 parade entries – including the Fairview High School Marching Knights, the Boulder High School Drumline, lighted floats from community schools, non-profits, city departments, local businesses and more.   And best of all, Santa Claus himself (along with Mrs. Claus) makes a grand appearance to greet all his loyal fans as the parade makes its way around downtown.

“The Lights of December Parade is a long standing tradition and continues to provide a magical experience for the entire community as we enter the height of the holiday season,” said Anna Salim, Downtown Boulder, Inc.’s Event Director.  Prior to the parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet children of all ages during St. Nick on the Bricks which happens from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Downtown Boulder’s Visitor Information Center.  Parade spectators are encouraged to come early and park for free in one of the five City of Boulder parking structures (Parking in these five garages is free every Saturday and Sunday year round. BoulderParking.com). Event organizers encourage everyone to pay special attention to event  ‘No Parking’ signs along and adjacent to the parade route.  Additional information about all holiday happenings in Downtown Boulder can be found online at DowntownBoulderHolidays.com.)

Downtown Boulder’s Lights of December Parade and St. Nick on the Bricks are free events and open to the public.   These annual events are produced by Downtown Boulder, Inc.  This year Ford is the Presenting sponsor.  Additional support comes from: Broadway Suites, Tebo Properties, the Daily Camera, and City of Boulder Parking Services.
