Santa Switches on the Holidays in Downtown Boulder with Help from the Boulder Chorale

Category: Press Room

This Saturday following a performance from the Boulder Chorale, Santa flips the switch illuminating the County Courthouse, Pearl Street Mall & Star on Flagstaff Mountain

Boulder, Colo. (November 16, 2011):  This Saturday, November 19, Downtown Boulder will shine brighter (and more colorful) than ever when Santa “switches” on the lights illuminating the Pearl Street Mall, Boulder County Courthouse  and star on Flagstaff Mountain.  This year, over 35,000 bulbs will light up Pearl Street alone along with over 300 colorful lighted ornaments!  Along the East End, trees with be adorned with LED holiday lights (courtesy of the City of Boulder), as well as skyline silhouettes on Pearl Street at the intersections of 10th and 16th streets not to mention 32 lighted snowflakes along the mall perimeters.

Before the lights are flipped, enjoy a live performance by the Boulder Chorale – Boulder’s premier community chorus.  Santa's promised a grand entrance this year, led as always, by the Fairview High School drum corps. Immediately following Switch on the Holidays, the Ice Rink at One Boulder Plaza will present Light up the Ice, a holiday ice show starring local skaters - with a special appearance by Tweedles the Elf.  After the show the rink will be open for all to enjoy $5 ice skating (includes skate rental) between 6:30-10 p.m.

Downtown Boulder’s Switch on the Holidays is a free event and opened to the public.   This annual event is produced by Downtown Boulder, Incorporated and sponsored by Broadway Suites, Tebo Development, the Daily Camera and City of Boulder Parking Services.
