Welcome Spring with the Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival in Downtown Boulder

Celebrate spring and tulips Sunday, April 23, 2023 on the Pearl Street Mall at Downtown Boulder’s Beloved event

Boulder, CO [April 11, 2023] –  Spring officially arrives in downtown Boulder with the blossoming of over 15,000 colorful tulips on the Pearl Street Mall. Join Downtown Boulder for their annual - The Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival - to celebrate the spring season and the beautiful flowers that accompany it.

This year’s beloved event takes place on Sunday, April 23, 2023. (Rain date: April 30, 2023). Enjoy mini walking parades with the Tulip Fairy and pint-sized fairies and elves around the Pearl Street Mall, live performances, free crafts/activities sponsored by local organizations and more. Head downtown from 1 - 5 pm to partake in all the festivities that will be stationed on the 1200, 1300 and 1400 blocks of the Pearl Street Mall with the live performance stage in front of the Boulder County Courthouse.

The live performance schedule is as follows:

1:00 - 1:45 pm  Singer/songwriter, Julia Kirkwood

2:00 - 2:45 pm  Bear Cub Brigade Kid Songs & Singalongs

3:00 - 3:45 pm  School of Rock Boulder

4:00 - 5:00 pm  Waking the Bear, with Jeff & Paige

Additionally, community organizations and businesses have developed free fun and interactive activities for children on the Pearl Street Mall. Kids can play an instrument with the Boulder Symphony & Music Academy, try their hand at foam sword dueling with Renaissance Adventures and so much more!

The Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival celebrates the gorgeous tulips that are planted each year along the Pearl Street Mall. The tradition started in the late 1970s, when Boulder’s then sister city, Meppel, Holland, would send 5,000 tulip bulbs annually to be planted along the Mall. A form of this tradition continues to this day when every fall the City of Boulder’s Parks Department plants 15,000 brand new tulip bulbs that are imported directly from Holland.

The Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival is a free event and costumes are encouraged. The public can learn more at TulipFairyFestival.com.

The Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival is produced by Downtown Boulder and presented by Google. The event is sponsored by the City of Boulder, Daily Camera, Eldorado Natural Spring Water, City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks, British Swim School and Kaiser Permanente.
