Elison Rd.

Storefront of Elison Rd.

Elison Rd., a curated clothing boutique, began in California. Owners Liz Sontag and Christian Petronelli opened two stores - one in Long Beach and one in Seal Beach - and the brand took off. Liz has a passion for fashion, and she curates the clothing and runs day-to-day operations and e-commerce. Christian is a lawyer who runs the financial and legal sides of the business, making the two friends a perfect pair.

Christian’s best friend lives in Boulder, and on his frequent trips to the area, he decided Elison Rd. needed to come to the Flatirons. “They wanted to bring the California casual style out to Colorado,” said Haley Rae Shoning, store manager. “In March of 2017, the Pearl Street storefront opened. A few months later, I was hired as the assistant manager. Then in the summer of 2021, I was promoted to store manager.”

With a long history in retail, Haley immediately fell in love with the clothing and the vibe of Elison Rd. “I’ve run boutiques in LA and New York, but I wanted to return home to Boulder where I had lived most of my teenage years. When I saw Elison Rd. open, I knew it was just what Pearl Street needed - and I knew I wanted to be part of it.”

Elison Rd. offers a wide selection of brands and clothing styles. From trendy apparel pieces and stylish hats to accessories and candles, the boutique strives to have something for everyone. “Our primary demographic is young adults, but we have fun statement pieces and essential closet staples that anyone can enjoy. CU Boulder students often come and shop with their moms on Family Weekend, and most of the time everyone walks away with something!”

After working on both coasts, Haley has found something unique in Boulder. “I personally know so many of the other store owners around me, which is really different from past boutiques I have been involved with. It’s great to have relationships with other businesses, and the sense of community is so strong. Plus, I love being on Pearl Street and talking to a mix of locals and tourists that walk in the door.”

To support Elison Rd., stop into the store and say hello to Haley. “If you can’t make it to the store, you can also shop and order online as well as purchase gift cards. Positive word of mouth is also so important - follow and tag us on social media (@elisonrd_boulder) and leave reviews on Yelp and Google.”

For Haley, working in retail has become her passion, from connecting with customers and offering style advice to learning about various brands. If you are looking for a new trendy piece or a high-quality basic, stop by Elison Rd. and see what they have to offer. Chances are high you walk away with something!
