Ways to Enjoy Winter Downtown!

Category: Boulder Blog

Happy November!

With the winter weather starting to kick in and the clocks shifting back, shorter days and colder nights are heading our way! To help you beat the cold and have fun all season long, we have compiled a list of fun things to do downtown!

In need of an indoor activity for snowy, winter days? Head downtown and try out one of our many art classes! From ceramic painting at Color Me Mine, stained glass artwork at Colorado Glass Works, embroidery classes at Two Hands Paperie, and so much more, there’s something for everyone downtown. Check out our recent blog post on a guide to classes and workshops downtown for more information!

Join Food Lab for one of their fun kids workshops this month! Whether you need a little help keeping the kids entertained during holiday break or are just looking for a new hobby for your little ones, this is the perfect chance for them to try their hand at a new skill! No kids, no problem! Food Lab also offers a variety of courses for adults and makes for the perfect date night or activity with family and friends.

Looking to make some winter meals and treats? Every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., stock up on fresh produce from local vendors at the Boulder County Farmers Market. Enjoy live music, fresh food and unique handmade products. This is the perfect way to spend a Saturday downtown. The market ends for the season on November 18th! Be sure to stop by before then.

Mark your calendars because Small Business Saturday (Weekend) is coming November 24-26! You heard that right! Here in downtown Boulder, we love our small businesses so much that they deserve an entire weekend to be celebrated!  In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses with their most pressing need — getting more customers. The day encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single-day has grown into a powerful movement, and more people are taking part than ever before. Small business owners are resilient, resourceful, hard-working and essential to the vibrancy of our community. Find that perfect gift as you stroll throughout the district to shop at over 100 specialty retailers and enjoy some holiday cheer at a variety of restaurants! Remember that downtown Boulder is made up of over 80% locally owned and operated businesses...that's a BIG reason to Shop Small!

The 2023 Firefly Handmade Holiday market is happening on November 11 and 12! Firefly artisans will fill the blocks of the renowned Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall, featuring the best of local craft, art, and design! Every year, Downtown Boulder partners with Firefly Handmade to bring over 80 creatively curated artisans, live music, local food and drink and so much more to the heart of Boulder! The market will be held in the midst of all the fabulous restaurants and unique shops that downtown has to offer, making it a convenient location to do all of your Holiday shopping and celebrating.

We have plenty more planned for the holiday season including amazing events like Switch on the Holidays, St. Nick on the Bricks, Snow Much Fun AR Experiences, Freezie Fest, Lights of December Parade and so much more. Stay tuned for more information in upcoming blog posts!  But in the meantime, visit DowntownBoulderHolidays.com for more details!

I can’t wait to keep you posted on all the fun happenings downtown this winter season! Stay warm!!

More to come,

Rebecca
