Soak Up the Sun in Downtown Boulder

Hi Downtown Boulder Readers!

With warmer temperatures and blooming tulips, it has become more and more enticing to spend all day outside. One of the most fun ways to spend time outside is… you guessed it… on a rooftop! Downtown Boulder has a variety of rooftops and patios to choose from so you can sit outside and soak up the sun, all while enjoying great food and drinks.

As I mentioned in my first blog, sitting on the bartaco patio is one of my favorite pastimes! I always order the chips and guac, and whatever drink catches my eye first. With a large selection of both cocktails and mock-tails, almost anybody can find something they will like. The bartaco menu is perfect for sharing or having small portions if you want to just have an afternoon get-together, but it is also the perfect choice for a full size dinner!

Although I haven’t been yet, I also hear great things about Avanti and their rooftop. They have a great view of both Pearl Street and the flatirons, in addition to a substantial drink selection. I think that the Tone it Down Tommy specialty cocktail will be the first thing I order when I can finally make it to the rooftop. Don’t forget to check out their happy hour Monday through Friday from 2 pm - 6 pm!

To me, Rio Grande’s rooftop is also a staple to the Pearl Street experience. When my mom and aunt went to CU Boulder, they used to go to Rio Grande all the time. So when I first started school here, I made it my mission to spend some time on their rooftop during warm spring and summer days. I mean, what is better than a beautiful view with chips and queso?

Rosetta Hall is rooftop neighbors with Rio Grande and while they share the same view, they offer significantly different food and drink options. Rosetta Hall is a great choice because you aren’t limited to one food style, as they offer: Middle Eastern, Italian, New American, Pan Asian Street Food, Contemporary Mexican, and Handcrafted Patisserie. Aside from food, Rosetta Hall also offers cocktails with Top Shelf Spirits (I have been eyeing the Alameda Margarita for a while now).

Corrida has the perfect rooftop for appetizers and wine tasting. With an extensive wine list and a tasting menu offered from 5 pm - 9 pm, you can watch the sunset over the flatirons while sharing a glass of wine with friends or family.

A rooftop that I feel like doesn’t get the attention it deserves is West End Tavern. Located on 926 Pearl St., it is central to all the fun of downtown Boulder and they have amazing food and drinks. They have a whiskey club ($15 membership) and it is designed to help you learn the differences between Whisky, Bourbon, Rye, Scotch, Irish & Tennessee -- and it can all be done from their beautiful rooftop!

Now with that being said, go take advantage of the beautiful weather and outdoors while supporting your favorite local businesses!

Talk Soon,

Ally
