Women turning into swans and tigers, men cursed to live as beasts and frogs—fairytales are full of magical transformations. But what makes them so central to this genre, and how do modern fairytales use transformation to explore current social themes? In this free 2-hour workshop we’ll examine classic and contemporary fairytales to understand the role of metamorphosis, explore how we as writers can expand upon and experiment with this evolving genre, and practice writing modern transformation tales of our very own.
