Mardi Gras in Downtown Boulder!

Category: Boulder Blog

Yesterday, I found out that my best friend is headed to New Orleans for the upcoming Mardi Gras. I’ll admit that I was a little jealous at first; however, after doing some extensive research, I discovered that downtown Boulder might give New Orleans a run for its money. So whether you love Mardi Gras or just want an excuse to celebrate, check out these fun ideas that downtown Boulder has to offer:

New Orleans isn’t the only place hosting a great carnival. Aji celebrates Mardi Gras Brazilian carnival style! The Latin American restaurant will have live music, great food and a drink station with the national cocktail of Brazil. More importantly, you can experience all of this for just $15!

Centro is another restaurant celebrating Mardi Gras Latin style. There will be awesome food and drink specials from Saturday, February 9 – Tuesday, February 12. On Fat Tuesday, enjoy a masquerade party and live music!

Another discovery that I came across is Liquor Mart’s annual Fat Tuesday celebration. On February 12 from 4 – 6 p.m., there will be a crawfish boil and king cake, and vendors will even be giving out free samples!

West End Tavern is another great option to consider. Not only will it have food and drink specials, but also there will be an exciting contest: if you find the baby in the king cake cupcakes, then you will win a V.I.P.  Bourbon tasting for two!

Personally, I’ve never attended a masquerade party, and I’ve always really wanted to. So now that I’m either going to Centro’s masquerade or throwing my own masquerade party, I realize that I’ll need to buy the perfect mask…

Of course, downtown Boulder never fails me. The Ritz is the costume store where I plan to find the BEST mask. If you want to have the best costume at any Mardi Gras festivities, then I suggest you get there before I do!

It is my second semester of senior year, and I’ve only now discovered what downtown Boulder has to offer on Mardi Gras. I don’t want any of you to miss out like I have in the past, so be sure to look into these activities.

After all, Mardi Gras is the perfect excuse to party on a Tuesday!
