Fix Your Bucket List - The Pearl Street Arts Fest
What do you want to do before you die? Strangely enough, I feel like this question gets thrown around quite a bit. I took a minute to really think about this, and I came up with an answer that should be considered universally applicable: Drink a ton of wine. Granted, this is assuming I make it to 21. While I’m drinking this delicious wine, I figure I should also check out some beautiful artwork before I die. Art and wine really are the classiest of combinations. Finally, before I die I would like to try one of those aerial dance classes. You know, those unbelievable performers who defy gravity, and hang from the ceiling using silk ribbons and hoops. I want to do that. Just fulfilling a childhood dream I suppose. How am I going to fit all of these activities in my busy schedule? The Pearl Street Arts Fest!
It’s no secret that the Pearl Street Arts Fest is filled with incredible artwork from talented artists all around the country! If you’re completely out of the loop, and didn’t know that, then prepare to be amazed. Personally, I can’t wait to check out contemporary artist Dolan Geiman’s work, but the festival features extremely diverse work. There’s definitely artwork that will inspire and interest everyone.
New this year to Pearl Street Arts Fest, and old to my bucket list, is the appearance of the Boulder County Aids Project's (BCAP) wine garden! I’m assuming my readers all aspire to be exactly like me, and therefore, love the same activities. So do what my unfortunate, underage-self cannot, and grab a glass of wine to help you really enjoy the art. You can feel good about it too, because all proceeds benefit BCAP! Why not experience the finer things in life all at the same time? The wine garden is a must on your list of stops at the festival, you fancy, fancy people.
Okay, so wine and art are checked off my before I die list, now I have to figure out how I am going to simultaneously become an aerial dancer. Wait! Pearl Street Arts Fest can help me with that too! Frequent Fliers Aerial Dance will be hosting an aerial rig where they’ll not only perform, but also offer lessons! Flyers of all ages are welcome. So if you see a 20 year old standing in a line of small children for her chance to be suspended in the air on some sort of ring, then you’ve spotted me! Come say hi, but beware, I will be intensely focused on what I’m assuming will be my future career.
Well, there you have it! Pearl Street Arts fest on July 18th-July 19th will be helping me accomplish everything I want to do while I still have the chance. So what do you want to do before you die? No really, answer the question. The Before I Die interactive public art project, presented by Boulder-based nonprofit Conversations on Death, will have a wall at the festival. Come write your hopes and dreams on the wall for thousands of people to see. And when you’re writing the words “Before I die, I want to be just like…” Don’t forget my name is Jessica.
Can’t wait to see you all at the Pearl Street Arts Fest!
